Jo Harvelle
Hunter
Jo is a hunter, the only child of Ellen and William Anthony Harvelle. She was born April 7, 1985. Her mother Ellen calls her "Joanna Beth."
Her parents are both hunters who run Harvelle's Roadhouse in Nebraska, which acts as a base for hunters. Bill Harvelle is killed when Jo is '"still in pigtails" while on a hunt with John Winchester. After his death, her mother Ellen continues running the Roadhouse.
Jo did go off to school, but left after feeling she didn't fit in.
Practically raised in a bar Jo was destined to be a waitress, but things became quite complicated for her when she was at a young age. By the age of ten she was fatherless, living with her mother at their family owned bar. Growing up she was taught how to use a bow and an arrow to hunt things, her mother had given her a journal to write in, but never did they think that she would one day use it for hunting. As she grew up she was taught how to fight from some of the other hunters that would visit the bar, getting to know a few of them well enough to refer to them as uncles. Ellen didn't want Jo to go hunting, so she was placed as a waitress to keep the bar running smoothly.
She kept Jo confined to the Harvelle Roadhouse for her safety. However, the Winchesters appeared and gave Jo a reason to finally escape the place her mother had kept her for so long. Jo followed them without hesitation, and though she had been rather fearful during her first hunting case, she proved her worth as a dedicated hunter. Ellen began hunting alongside Jo in an attempt to help keep her safe, and together they agreed to help the Winchesters take down Lucifer. Dean had approached Jo about spending their “last night on earth” together, which she declined due to self-respect, but she imagined it was simply another pick-up line. The very next day, Ellen and Jo both passed away after being attacked by Meg’s hellhounds and setting up a trap to murder the remaining hellhounds.
In the present for some explainable reason, Jo Harvelle has returned to earth alongside the fallen angels. She intends to try to find as much information as possible, but before she is able to do that, she first has to catch up on what has happened in her absence. Jo believes the Winchesters will have the desired information, though she would not be opposed to meeting another hunter who could share current events. Though she still remains unable to explain why or how. She's not sure how long she will have on earth before she is inevitably forced back into Heaven, but she intends on making the best of the time she has been given.
